Re: HT 20H No sound when turned on until 1 min later

I don't reckon my HT20 head takes as long as a minute to start working, although it does take probably that long or perhaps a bit longer to settle down properly - it seems to buzz quite a bit (on standby) while warming up lately (I suspect the power valves may be going a bit out of balance or someth...

Re: Lowering gain with preamp tube swaps for HT amps?

Another vote for a 12AY7 in the drive channel of the HT (mine's a 20 head). As well as making the gain knob less "all or nothing" at the lower gain end, it subtly changes the sound in a way that suits me (sounds a little bit less "modern" I suppose, hard to explain). I swapped between the AX and AY ...

Re: HT 408 and Dual Terror question

The HT408 is an 8-ohm cab. The Dual Terror's speaker outputs allow a single 8-ohm, single 16-ohm or two 16-ohm cabs (using both "8-ohm" outputs). So you can't run two HT408 cabs directly from the Dual Terror with two speaker cables. But daisy-chaining the cabs may work is they are wired so they end ...

Re: Same sound than HT5 but more power

I use my HT-20 through a pair of V30s (Orange PPC212OB) and it's certainly loud enough for band rehearsals or small pub gigs, but still sounds good at "home" volume. Certainly for overdrive sounds it'll go really loud (I rarely run mine much above half even with a band), and the clean headroom is pr...

Re: Same sound than HT5 but more power

The HT-20 is a bit more "modern" voiced than the HT-5. I tried them both when I was amp-hunting and bought the 20 because I wanted more clean headroom than the 5, but the sound is a bit different apart from just being louder. I use a 12AY7 instead of the 12AX7 in the drive channel preamp of my HT-20...

Re: HT-50 & Artisan 212??

8 ohm output of the amp into the mono input of the Artisan cab will be fine. I haven't tried that cab, but I run my HT-20 through an Orange PPC212 OB, which is also an open-back cab with V30s, and I think it sounds superb. If you'd prefer a closed-back cab (metal player?) with V30s then the Harley-B...

Re: Attaching headphones to emulated out.

There have been a couple of discussions about this recently, and the general concensus is that you need some sort of preamp between the emulated out and the headphones to get a decent result. It's a line level output, not really meant for driving headphones. Some people reckon they've used headphone...

Re: Volume knobs on my HTCLUB40

The channel volumes control the volume of each channel's preamp stage and the master volume adjusts the overall volume of the amp. You can use the channel volumes to balance the output between the two channels, then set the master volume for how loud you want to sound. Also, having the channel volum...
