Re: What do you use your clean channel for?
I use a clean sound a fair bit in my current band, so the clean channel on my HT gets used. As for break-up of the clean channel, it doesn't really happen on my HT20H without using a clean boost pedal in front. Unless you can get away with playing REALLY loud (gig volume even with the 20), then the ...

Re: HT Stage 100 pre amp section
The AU will be the phase inverter valve (only the HT100 has one, all the smaller HTs use a solid-state phase inverter). I don't know for sure if any other type would work, but I'd be inclined to stick with an AU if you can get one, otherwise possibly try an AT rather than an AX. The phase inverter i...

Re: Doesn't have to be used for the heavy stuff
Very nice playing mate. Doesn't have to be widdly shredding to be good IMO. I'm also a "less heavy" user of an HT series, although usually a bit heavier than you... more 70s-80s punk/goth style in the current band, but I do use and like the clean channel of my HT20-H. Clean channel on the 20 does a ...

Re: HT 40 safe to swap 12AX7 for 12AT7?
The official line would probably be don't change valve types at all, but lots of people (me included) are running an AY7 in the drive channel with good results and no apparent bad effects on the amp. I don't think I've heard of anybody using an AT7 though.

Re: HT-20 head fuses
The HT fuse is a T250mAL 20mm glass fuse. They're pretty easy to get online but probably not singly (although they're pretty cheap). Don't know where you are, but if you're in the UK I recently bought a packet of ten from a dealer on ebay for £2, no postage charge. You might get a single one if you ...

Re: Blackstar HT 50 Head
Cool - good luck with it, hope you like it :) I think the HT-50 head has the voicing switching (the 20 doesn't have that), so should be even easier to get a sound you like than on my 20 (which I still think is extremely versatile). Depending on what sound you're after, you can make quite a differenc...

Re: Blackstar HT 50 Head
Well I bought my HT-20 head because I like the way it sounds rather than what components it uses. The HT range do have solid-state components in them (op-amps helping with gain in the preamp [similar to a tube screamer pedal on the drive channel I believe], ss rectifier [although a lot of "proper" a...

Re: Amp Head produces Crackles when FX loop pedals on
If the crackling only happens when the pedals are turned on then I don't reckon it's an amp problem (at least not directly, like a dodgy socket or effects loop problem - that would cause noise whether the pedals were on or not). I've had a "sizzling/bacon frying" noise (I initially thought was a dod...
