Another S1-45 problem.

As soon as I move the DPR knob away from the minimum power setting, it invokes a full volume continuous burst of hum loud enough to rattle out fillings, regardless of the volume setting. Yet all works well at 4.5 watts. Something has gone wrong with the DPR circuit. Has anyone else experienced this,...

Re: Tell Me About Your Experience With the Emulated Speaker Output

Both guitarists in my band have Blackstars, an S!-45 and a S1-50. I recorded a live gig using the speaker emulated outs straight in to my interface (Motu). I was able to do the same with drums because they are electric. The rest, vocals, keys & bass, came straight from the desk's stereo out (and cou...

Re: Blackstar serie one 50 questions

I have both the S1-45 & S1-50 in my possession at the moment. The amps are identical except all the knobs are reversed on the S1-50, and another 5 watts appeared from somewhere. They sound the same, given speaker differences. A friend has the HT 20 head and I find it a very different sound to the S1...

Re: reverb in the chain? where?

I have the Hardwire RV-7 reverb pedal. It sounds much better (as does delay) through the effects loop on my S1-45. Wah pedals sound woeful through the loop. Essentially, reverb/delay through the loop, everything else in the front works for me.

Jonny & the Cole Shots (AU)

I replaced my vintage Twin Reverb with an S1-45 and the other guitarist replaced his Mesa Mk111 with the S1-50. The sound of the band improved dramatically. Well done Blackstar!

You can listen at www.reverbnation.com/jonnythecoleshots

The guitars were recorded using the speaker emulated outputs.

Re: Series One 45 - Good All Rounder?

I use a Hardwire RV-7 reverb pedal. The other guitarist in the band bought one too for use with a Mesa Mk 111. Great pedal. I'm also very happy with the Hardwire DL-8 delay. I had a big gig in Emerald this weekend at an awesome new pub called The Irish Village. Last Monday I turned on the S1 and no ...

Ha! Once the gear bug bites there is no turning back! You may have to factor in a few extra $'s for wife calming.

Re: Series One DPR Vs Attenuator

Our sound guy dropped by recently and I played him some stuff at low volume. Unexpectedly he took 3 steps back and said "Wow, that's the same tone you get at gigs!"

The DPR is a very lovely knob!

Re: Solid State

I have heard they sound allot better than the Venue series. And after putting my S1-45 next to a friends HT-20, I can confirm it. The S1-45 sounds ALLOT better than the Venue series. My comparison is based on clean tones and while the HT-20 was very good, the S1 was in a completely different class. ...
