I have both the S1-45 & S1-50 in my possession at the moment. The amps are identical except all the knobs are reversed on the S1-50, and another 5 watts appeared from somewhere. I have the Hardwire RV-7 reverb pedal. It sounds much better (as does delay) through the effects loop on my S1-45. Wah pedals sound woeful through the loop. Essentially, reverb/delay through the loop, everything else in the front works for me.

I replaced my vintage Twin Reverb with an S1-45 and the other guitarist replaced his Mesa Mk111 with the S1-50. The sound of the band improved dramatically. Well done Blackstar!

I have heard they sound allot better than the Venue series. And after putting my S1-45 next to a friends HT-20, I can confirm it. The S1-45 sounds ALLOT better than the Venue series. My comparison is based on clean tones and while the HT-20 was very good, the S1 was in a completely different class. ...
