Re: Valve Replacement Kits

thats pretty much whats in my stage 100 the svet winged c's really work in it but the biggest difference I thought was the phillips , really smoothed it out compared to the tad ecc82 , as an aside tried some of the jan 6189w in some blackstar pedals as well and a huge difference ! whilst I always li...

Re: HT-100 head problem noise , strange feedback

Might be an idea first to see if a valve has gone microphonic especially on a higher gain setting like your using. An easy check but be carefull !!! is to tap the pre amp valves lightly when powered up with a screwdriver on their tops if one is micrphonic you will really hear it, cant say it enough ...

Re: Valve Replacement Kits

Lol still hunting for that holy grail Ogri. In answer yes have tried Cryos before, actually the first time was in a Rocker 30 with some Svet winged C cryo in the power amp. Clean you dont really get a big benefit, now overdriven you could hear a difference , somehow a lot smoother, and overall more ...

weber beam blockers anybody tried them?

Just wondering whether anybody has tried these ?
I can see the principal behind them in that they cut the ice pick effect from the centre of the
cone, very similar to the old way of using gaffer tape so the sounds diffused better
( still use that now lol ) probably look a lot better though !

Re: The Definitive valve / tube change guide

Spot on only needs a re- bias if its the power amp stage , just working on some ideas at the moment to mod so you can re-bias without taking the chassis out on the 100 head. The test point side is easy enough to get arround as you can just extend that out with no issue its just a way of getting to t...

Re: The Definitive valve / tube change guide

nope did it myself ( used to be a valve tech many moons ago ) simply bias for 100 mv ( in the case of the 100 ) thats measured at the test points which a tech will notice near to the valve bases , and adjust the upper of the two trim pots as you look down on the amp, the only strange point which I r...

Re: Opinions, opinions, opinions

The only thing I wish b/s did right from the start is put the best valves in , mind you I do appreciate a lot of that comes down to costing but I dont think the amps show their best with standard valves which is possibly why there are some negative comments. Re-valved I,d now put mine up against any...

Re: The Definitive valve / tube change guide

Ht STAGE 100 PRE AMP - ( WITH SVETLANA WINGED C IN POWER AMP) changed V1 /V2 for Harma ECC83 Retro and V3 ( probably the most important ) for a Phillips jan6189w /ECC82 the difference is huge . Amp in general runs quieter the cleans are way more defined and dynamic but its the overdriven saturated t...

Re: Opinions, opinions, opinions

Youve probably hit the nail on the head there . Badge snoberry is always an issue but youve got to look at the guys pedigree and you see the name Marshall crop up a lot so their not babies in the amp game. Does my Prs sound like my strat or Lp ? no it sounds like a Prs and thats what its meant to do...
