Re: HT-20: More Background Noise in Clean than Overdrive?

Hey there! Thanks Mark for your update. I agree, the noise is nothing that will bother you when you're playing at certain volume, but it's still strange and rather unexpected for a brand new amp. I've poked Blackstar support again to see where this is coming from. I can't imagine why the phase drive...

Re: HT-20: More Background Noise in Clean than Overdrive?

Hi guys, the noise with a muted guitar connected is exactly the same. I'm still in touch with Blackstar support, they now mentioned that there are transistors in the power amp stage as phase drivers, if one of those is noisy, this could be the source of our problems. I'm also still waiting for an ex...

Re: HT-20: More Background Noise in Clean than Overdrive?

Hi there! I'm still in touch with Blackstar support, who told me to check V1 of the preamp tubes. As expected, no change. To show Blackstar support what we are experiencing, I took a short recording of my amp https://www.dropbox.com/sh/o67sxn293wrsr2k/gLtr7i3exe/Blackstar%20HT%20Studio%2020%20Noise....

Re: HT-20: More Background Noise in Clean than Overdrive?

Hi all, I had the power tubes replaced with the same type and the amp rebiased, this did not change the behavior with more noise in the clean channel. Reported this to customer support, let's see what we get. By the way, with the amp opened, I realized that the noise I described coming from the powe...

Re: HT-20 Studio - Changing Tubes & Setting Bias

Hey folks!

Great video! I noticed that there is a BIAS and a BAL poti on the PCB of the HT Studio 20. The bias is clear, but what does the bal (balance) poti do, and should this be adjusted as well?

Cheers, Felix

Re: HT-20: More Background Noise in Clean than Overdrive?

Hi guys! I recently bought a HT Studio 20 head and experience the same behavior. What I see is: - Amp switched on, cable connected to input - Channel and master volumes on 0 - Higher noise level in the clean channel than in the overdrive channel Is this what you see (or in this case hear) too? I hav...
