Quite noticeable. BTW, I always try and have a spare pre-amp tube available.Dragonsarc wrote:how much volume/gain loss will it have? will it be very noticeable?sleepeatplay wrote:Quite a while. When a tube goes bad you'll notice a huge volume/gain loss.

Re: HT-DRIVE....
I bought an HT Drive to boost my JCA 20H. It works great. Like all Overdrive pedals, it is a bit noisy when you stop playing. Today I replaced the Sovtek tube with a low noise JJ, and it really warmed the tone up. I did spend a bit of time EQ'ing the pedal with the amp, but I'm very happy with it.

Re: Tung Sol 12AX7 or Stock tube (sovtek 12AX7WA)
It is a matter of taste. I have two HT-5H's, one has a Tung-Sol RI, and the other has a JJ. Very different tones. I just didn't care for the harsh bite from the Sovtek. Everybody likes a different tone. Now you have a spare tube!

Re: The HT-5 is Fragile. CAUTION!
I have 2 Ht-5-H heads. Swapped out preamp tubes with no problem. I also make sure the power supply is unplugged from the outlet. Any amp has a tendency to vibrate things loose. Also try being delicate replacing the tubes. Been doing tube swaps on amps for over 30 years without a problem.

Re: installing new tube
Hi All, I've been enjoying my ht-5 combo amp.. perfect for what I bought it for. After doing some research I purchased a Tung-sol 12AX7 tube which should be arriving soon. Now, this is my first tube amp and from what I've read it's basically just a drop in procedure for the preamp tube...take out o...

Re: Blackstar HT-5 Tube Swap
I actually picked up another HT-5 combo to replace the one I sold. I put in a Mullard 7025 and a Brimar 12BH7A and it sounds great. I've learned from another forum that the HT-5 has a cathode resistor and the two trim pots are for fine tuning. And does this mean that replacing tubes with same type ...

Re: Post your Blackstar amp!
Updated HT-5 setup, I'm running dual HT-5 amps. Sounds great!!! I'm putting Celestions in the Lead 12 cabinets this week. Very cool.
