Re: Electro-harmonix gold pin swap.
I use the EH Gold Pin output tube in the 5c, works well. What really changed it was using a TungSol Gold Pin preamp tube, it cuts through brilliantly. I also use a 112 ext cab and I've put in a Celestion Vintage 12 speakere - loads more ooomph. Not sure I can fit one into the Combo cab so I'm stuck ...

Re: HT-5r speaker swop or valve swop
I have an HT-5RC, (12 inch speaker model) I double up the speaker with a 112 Cab. I play a Les Paul through some Boss pedals. I felt it could all have a bit more wallop. Not much room in the combo for a change of speaker, but I've just put in a Celestion V30 (16 ohm) into the extension cab and also ...

Re: HT-5R combo for rehearsals?
I use the HT5R with the HT112 Ext cab to give 2 x 12 and it works fine for rehearsals and gigging even with noisy drummer, bass and k'brd. Was loud enough in a marquee tent. I use a Les Paul and don't really want clean headroom so it's fine for my sound, but you may need a few more Watts for real he...

Got a slightly used Blackstar 12" off ebay - had it revalved as whilst the amp was nearly new, it must have been dropped or something and had a few problems after a week. Anyway the guy th...

Re: Doesn't have to be used for the heavy stuff
Normaly use a Les Paul through my HT 5R with a Boss Multi Effects pedal - great for most small venues and has now replaced my Marshall JTM60 2 x 12's Combo. Much lighter and better sound. I also play in an acoustic band and I've started using my Ovation Elite through the amp - what an amazing warm s...
