Re: ht-40 sound problems. please help. new owner here :(

If the amp is just 4 weeks old, I suggest you return it and get a replacement. No reason to tinker around with a new amp and void the warranty.

Re: Blackstar 4x12 vs others

I have the Blackstar 4x12, and it is not ported. I personally did not like the 70/80 speakers that came in the cab. The highs were too shrilly, and I thought the speakers lacked warmth. I play mostly classic rock, with a lot of clean tones, and the 70/80s did not work for me. I swapped out the speak...

Re: New HT 50 owner. Dilemma

Marshalls and Blackstars have completely different tones. I think the HT has a smoother OD tone than the Marshall, if that makes any sense. For that reason, I have a Marshall that I use for certain tones, and Blackstar for different tones. You just may be a Marshall guy.

Re: HT-5RS issues

I would start with replacing the preamp tubes to see if that makes a difference. They are plug and play, so no need to worry about biasing them. If that doesn't work, then send it back.

Re: Chinese Production Secret

I see your point. And to your point about focusing on the lower end models, I rarely see the Artisan or Series One amps being advertised.

Re: Chinese Production Secret

I have a Series One 200 and a HT100 head, and both are made in Korea. I do recall a post by someone some time ago who raised the question of the amps being made in China. Blackstar's response, if I recall, was that the Chinese made products are as good, if not better, than the amps made in Korea. I ...

Re: ID: CORE 40 or ID: 260TVP

I had the ID60, which did not sound good when playing mp3 tracks. I also have the ID Core 20, and mp3 tracks sound great with that amp. So, I assume the Core 40 will be just as good, but with more power. If you were planning on gigging or playing with other guys, ID 260 would be better, but for home...

On the speaker front, I agree with thephantum -- Eminence Texas Heat is a great speaker. I have that in my Mesa F30 combo, and I get amazing tones out of it.

Re: New to Blackstar, goin back old school.

Congrats. I have a Series One 200. I alternate between that head, a Mesa Mark V and a Marshall JVM 210, depending on the mood. I play mostly classic rock stuff. In any case, I use the FX loop for a delay pedal and reverb (the Series One 200 does not have a built in reverb). The only pedal I use up f...

Re: NO SOUND AGAIN!!!

Bizzarre. Have they explained to you what was wrong with the amp? I have an HT100 head that I used for a couple of years, and I've never had a problem with it. I use a different amp now, but held on to the HT head as a backup because it has been reliable. I unfortunately do not have any advice for y...
