Re: HT-5R Combo: How to reveal the circuit board??

If you've removed the four machine screws holding the chassis to the panel, they are just stuck together. They will come apart. It just takes some patience and some prying.

Re: Biasing Help...From The Ground Up

Voltage isn't the issue, it's the amperage. Sure, there's hundreds of volts in a guitar amp, but there's tens of thousands in a static electric shock. The difference is in the current levels. A static shock has high voltage, but very low current. Guitar amps have lower voltage, but the current level...

Re: HT5-R combo possible stress...

Like I said, I would not just jump all the way down to a 12AU7, as the amp will lose too much gain. I would try a 5751 first, then a 12AT7, then a 12AY7. If all of those still have too much gain for you (very doubtful), then try a 12AU7.

Just my $0.02

Re: HT5-R combo possible stress...

There's no danger to the amp by replacing the 12AX7 with a 12AU7 and it will reduce the gain by a lot. On a scale of 1 to 10, if the 12AX7 has a gain factor of 10, the 12AU7 is about a 2. So you might want to look at something like a 5751 first, which would be around a 7 and makes the gain knob much...

Re: Bias adjustment for the HT-100

Read this thread. The procedure is pretty simple if you are familiar with electronics. If not and/or if you don't know what you are doing, it can be downright dangerous. So read carefully.

Re: Blackstar HT 60 Stage + Midi Controller (?)

The TC Electronics G-Major 2 will do everything you want and ask "is that it?" It's pricey, but worth it.

Coupled it with a MIDI foot controller and you'll be all set.

Re: Headphone Amp Questions

A headphone amp is not going to make the emulated out sound any better. It will just help you get more volume out of it. You'd be better off getting a small audio interface, using it to connect the emulated out to a computer and running it all through some effects (EQ and maybe a cab sim). The added...

Re: HT club 40 blows HT fuse everytime its turned on.

It could be any number of things, but the most common cause is a bad power tube. It's most likely shorted, which is why the fuse keeps blowing. If you keep replacing the H.T. fuse and trying again, it's only a mater of time before something else gets damaged (like a grid resistor). Have the amp retu...

Re: Ht-5r reliability ?

I have owned an HT-5RH since 2013. I routinely play it hard and it has never failed me (by hard I mean max volume or very close to it). The amp simply does what it's told and sounds awesome. I did change the tubes in 2014, but that was only as an upgrade. There was nothing wrong with the original tu...
