Re: Tube Rectifier

Im thinkin the ht 40 uses a sag resistor on the vintage channel to simulate the sag of a tube rectifier. Just a hunch, might be wrong.

If their is enough taps on the power transformer it probably wouldnt be that difficult to do.

Re: Is Power amp section on ht-40 really tube?

zibolt- Switch valve 1 with valve 2. If your clean channel sounds fine that tube will be good enough to determine if the gain channel tube is dead. My experience with valve changes is the tone change is minimal but they do help. Dont get JJ ecc83, they suck, very lifeless/dull sounding tubes. Speake...

Re: Is Power amp section on ht-40 really tube?

zibolt- Yes you are correct the hts are hybird amps. The ht-1 all the way up the line to the ht100. My understanding is the front end of the preamp is all solid state untill it reaches the last part of the pre amp signal chain.. one ecc83 . A bunch of zener diodes and op amps in the drive channels i...

Re: Honest opinions please

If I was you id do it in a heart beat. Based off of me experience with the 45 I loved it. Simular to venue but more rich/better sounding all the way around as one would guess. Extra valve gain in my opinion showes up my ht40. Better components , birch ply, better speakers. I forgot what blackstar sa...

(UPDATE) Birch Ht-40 project

Been a bit lazy on finishing this thing. Rounded over the edges a while ago and thought id share. It really makes a huge difference compared to my last pics. I got the tolex but I just havent had the ambition to finish it yet. The tolex is practically the same kind as OE. Its sold as Mesa/gibson OE ...

Re: Plywood

Finland and Russian birtch is grown in a different colder climate than USA that allows for the tree to grow with less knots in the wood. So their will be less possible voids and it should be better sounding with minamel dense knots in it. Im very happy with the Russian birtch I got at woodcraft.com ...
