Re: tubes advice

So the EL34's are pretty good as power-amp tubes anyway, so not much point in replacing them? As far as replacing the V2 tube though with a GT, Tung-Sol, or JJ 12AX7...isn't the ECC83 that's already in there the exact same as a 12AX7?

tubes advice

Hi all, I've been perusing the threads about tubes to get a little bit of knowledge (I am a tube newb), but also wanted some advice regarding replacing the tubes in my Stage 60. I really like the clean sound from the amp (and rarely use clean since I play mostly metal), so I think I'm going to leave...

Re: it appears my stage 60 was molested

Hmmm...my girlfriend says I molest her box all the time, but I've never heard of anything like that

Re: Tubes Dilemma

I wonder if it has 3 pre-amp tubes because it's one tube for each channel to shape the sound, and 2 power-amp tubes because it's one tube for each speaker?

Re: Tubes Dilemma

I'm like the OP, I have no idea what all this stuff means, as the Stage 60 is my first full tube amp. What exactly is V1/2/3? Do those equate to the clean/OD1/OD2 channels? How many tubes does the Stage 60 have overall? Are EL34's the norm for "stock" tube amps like this one?

Re: HT Stage 60 in the studio

How did you get that tone? What settings/FX are you using? That sounds fantastic. I have a Stage 60 but I'm still messing around with getting my ideal tone from it.

Re: Good overdrive/distortion pedal for Artisan 15

I was searching for an OD pedal to add some boost to my Blackstar when I spotted it and figured I'd try it out since I had never even heard of it. It totally blew me away. It's more of a distortion pedal than a strict OD pedal, and while it wasn't really what I was looking for, I just had to have it...

Re: Good overdrive/distortion pedal for Artisan 15

I just got a Boss Power Stack a few weeks ago, and it's incredible (hence, why I bought it :D ). It does a really good job of replicating a half-stack tube sound, and doesn't have any of that "tinny" sound normally associated with Boss (and many others) when playing lead. It's very punchy and ballsy...

Re: just got my Stage 60! (and have some questions)

I've actually been messing around with moving my amp around to different power sources/locations, and at some, the hum is almost negligible, so I guess it may be more telling about the wiring in my house than the amp Image

Re: just got my Stage 60! (and have some questions)

A Noise Gate will KILL all of your tone. Just remember, this amp has loads of gain and you just may need to turn down the gain a bit. I use the HT-100, with a Marshall 4x12 and my Les Paul studio and I get some squeal if I turn it past 1 o'clock. BUT, I did notice when I changed the stock tube to a...
