Re: got a new ht 40 :(
With JJs I had better bass response in the power section. Pre-amp tubes smooth my ht-100 out some. It really isn't the most dynamic feeling amp but it makes up for it with clarity. I can play an open G with the orange channel gain pegged and you can hear it perfectly.

Re: just got my new tubes this PM--whoaaaa!!
Thats awesome. I have JJ EL34s and I really like their sound. Haven't messed with pre-amp tubes yet. I recently got a mode 4 cab which has A Marshall Vintage 30. Also I think avatar got some they were selling as the Hellaton v30L. It sounds amazing with those speakers, clean is super warm and the cr...

Re: HT 100 tubes - improving the sound
That would definitely work. Pretty common pairing. The 75s do indeed have more bass. I have a 4x12 with V30s so there is more than enough bass already. I usually keep the same speakers for playing live.

I don't bias. Not that I recommend that, I just don't.

Re: HT 100 tubes - improving the sound
Which pre-amp tubes did you get?
I like it with both V30s and G12T75s, i have cabs with both. They each have a different quality. The V30 is thicker the 75s have more jangle.

Re: Q's about Ht-5, Peavey XXX and Krank
If I remember correctly the XXX has an effects loop. You should be able to run the line out from the ht-5 to the return of the effects loop.

Re: HT 100 tubes - improving the sound
Get some other speakers. I was content with my 1960 cab. I got a mode 4 cab the other day with their vintage 30 flavor (slightly different v30) and it sounds great. I'm really happy with it. The cleans have more jangle, high end is rolled in harshness. The mids are softer and less grainy.

Re: Series One 100 vs HT-Stage 60 w/ attenuator
IMHO,it makes sense.I mean, yeah, you can crank a 20w amp better at home, that's obvious. But It will sound just like a 20w tube amp anyway.Which is not necessary a bad point,it depends on what you want to play of course Can't really crank a 20 watt amp so well at home. Even with the little 10" in th...
