Multi effects with amp sim into HT5 mk2

I have just bought an HT5 Mk2, which has an effects loop. I also have a Headrush MX5 multi effects unit that I want to run thru the amp. That seems straightforward enough... mono output from the MX5 into the preamp input of the HT5. That works fine. I want to also add an amp sim into the multi effec...

I’ve concluded that they are valve amps, but the overdrive sound is added with SS circuits. I’m not sure if the valve adds to the clean harmonics , or if that is also from SS circuitry.
Is the valve just a decoration ?

Is the HT series really valve amps?

Are the HT1 and HT5 really valve amps, or are they SS amps with a couple of valves pretending to be a valve amp?

The schematic diagrams of the amps have a lot of integrated circuits!!
