Re: S1 50 vs HT 1w

Hi Chalky Doesn't sound to me like anything's broken....I don't think a DPR will drop a maxed 50w head volume to bedroom levels on it's own. I've got the S1-45 combo and an S1-50 head and I can't reduce the volume with DPR to be able to play home friendly volumes with, unless I'm controlling it with...

Re: Best Tubes for Series One 50

When my S1-45 combo needed revalving I went for these:

JJ Tesla 83's, a NOS Phillips Jan 82 and Svetlana Winged C EL34s, biased to what my tech called "optimum".

It sounds that good, when my new S1-50 head needs doing it'll get the same treatment. :D

Re: HT 40 Help Newbie

Fingers - check these out. Good company with a good reputation.
Dunno if you're in the UK or not but should only mean extra shipping costs if not.

Re: HT-20 Studio no sound

Sounds like it could be a loose preamp valve to me.
Check your preamp valves are seated properly before looking at the output valves.

Stock valves are known for being somewhat unreliable

Re: impedance settings on Series One 200

Zakk - assuming normal operation, it would be the mono 240 RMS setting on the cab. You connect the cab lead to the amp, set the amp to 16ohm and plug the cab lead into the r/h socket (as you look at it) marked 16 ohm mono. Do this before you turn the amp on and you're good to go.

Re: TUBESCREAMER ON GAIN CHANNEL?

I started using one in front my S1 and HT20 a few months back. Works very well.
I use it on just over unity gain (about 1 o clock) to tighten things up, dist control off, level around 11 o clock
and run an EQ through the loop at solo time.

Re: Who's gigging with Blackstar?

Been gigging with my S1-45 since they were released. I have had a few minor issues but they can nearly all be put down to valves, and during the last service / revalve, my tech discovered and put right some soldering issues in the power stage. It's still the best sound I've ever had. Plenty of volum...

Re: S1-45 speaker upgrade

Here's what went into my S1-45 at last re-valve: 3 x JJ Tesla Ecc83 (12AX7) 1 x NOS Military grade Phillips Jan 6189w Ecc82 (12AU7) 2 x Svetlana Winged C EL34 All scoped and biased to what my tech called 'optimum setting' Speakers are still stock, well broken in by now and I have to say it sounds un...

Re: S1 45 supercrunch volume rise problem and MOD

The way I heard it was S/crunch is designed to be the lead channel, hence the volume lift. Can't help regarding any mod, but how I get around it is to get my 'normal' sound with S/crunch then use a Boss EQ in the loop at solo time. That way you can get as little or as much volume boost as you like. ...

Re: Ext cabinet

It does sound like it's an 8 ohm cab. Here's a link to a speaker wiring article: http://www.loudspeakersplus.com/pdfs/speaker_wiring_diagrams.pdf If each speaker is 16 ohms and you say the cab says 8 ohms, then your cab is parallell wired There should also be a positive wire (+) running to each posi...
