Re: HT-5R Need Some Bottom End

Start with a pre amp and power amp tube swap. The HT 5 doesn't require biasing and the tubes can be slit in easily, however, be careful while mingling inside an amp. The huge difference will come from the speaker, the stock 12'' speaker is crap. The good news are, plenty of great 12'' speakers out t...

Hey Guys, So i decided that I would like to completely re-wire my Epiphone Les paul. It is a gift and has a sentimental value to it, so replacing the guitar is out of the question...I am keeping it. Now that I have had the guitar for more than two years, I am convinced that upgrading the pickups wil...

Re: New Blackstar HT100 user

Hello Dan, welcome on board. One hell of an amp, glad you are loving it.

Give the stock tubes run for their money, but I am sure you will end up swamping them for tonally superior tubes, and then may I advice JJ.

Thanks

Re: Newbie looking for advice

Hello there fellow seasoned player. The volume difference between the 20 and the 40 is negligible, that is the good news. The bad news are that even the 20 is loud! But don't you worry, for your application the 40 is the way to go. The difference between the two is not only the wattage. The 40 has m...

Re: Dear Blackstar.....

JJ all the way Majik.

Man what a difference.

Now I'm looking at speakers to throw in the 212. Thinking of V30 and T 75 combo.

What do you think?

Re: The Definitive valve / tube change guide

JJ all the way (power and pre) on both the Ht stage 60 and the current 104 6L6. I tried SED 6l6....nothing compared to the JJ's. I tried EHX, Tungsol and JJ for the pre amp...JJ FTW.

Re: Tube locations... (I know)

Okay I am not sure about the actual positions on the 50...... the answer though is YES, a JJ ECC82 (phase inverter) will make a huge difference), you can't go wrong with that. In my case I have 5 pre amp tubes, looking from the back of the amp and starting from right is V3= clean Channel V4=Crunch c...

Dear Blackstar.....

Stop shipping your amps with terrible quality tubes!! The first amp I bought was the HT Stage 60, sounded completely dull and like crap until i re-tubed the whole thing. It might be justifiable for a $900. However, recently I re-tubed my S1 104 6L6 and what a significant difference.....everything I ...
