Re: Loadbox for my Blackstar Amp
That setup should work...but if you are going to do that, I would use one of Weber's speaker motor's instead of power resistor's. A purely resistive dummy load will not sound as natural then a reactive dummy load will. The reason I say that is because a speaker load affects the tone of the amp. Sign...

Re: Preamp Vacuum Tube Sound Comparison - Blackstar HT 20 St
No...only will take EL34s safely in the power section. Not quite true. You can use a 6CA7's or a KT77's in place of EL34's in the power amp. Both are direct replacements. There is no real difference between the EL34 and the 6CA7. The U.S. uses 6CA7 as the type code, and Europe uses EL34 (similar to...

Re: Using Headphones
Connect your headphones to the emulated output on the rear panel and turn the master volume all the way down. Then use the channel volumes to control the headphone levels.

Re: Combo 60 Stage for Modern Metal?
My HT-20 has all kinds of gain and does metal tones pretty well. It has so much gain that I typically keep it set around 8 or 9 (clockface) and still get a good hard rock type of OD. Crank the gain and I think you'll be happy. If not, put a dirt box up front and/or a clean boost in the loop. Plus, t...

Re: Got a used stage 60 with problem
Sounds like a bad and/or microphonic power tube to me. I'd start with a new matched set and a re-bias.

Re: Blackstar HT-5TH + Overdrive Pedal
There's lots of ways to do it. Tone is a very subjective thing. My suggestion would be to get a dirt box and just try it. First put it in front of the amp on the clean channel and see what it can do. Then you can roll the drive back on the pedal and try the OD channel, then put it in the effects loo...

It doesn't matter how old you are or how long you've been playing. As long as you enjoy it.

Re: Info on tube valve biasing.
Are you looking for general bias info or something more specific to the HT5R? Here's some specific info of the bias on an HT5. Not sure if the HT5R is different, but I doubt it: http://jvmforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6267 Keep in mind, that's the factory settings, which are most likely on th...

Proud new Blackstar owner
Greetings from Virginia in the USA. I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and on valve amps for around 20 of those. Marshall's were my preferred amp of choice. I mainly play hard rock, punk and metal with lots of classic rock and bluesier stuff mixed in. More recently, I am more of "bedroom" ...
