every model will have it's own sound,what you need to do is go and try them at a store
then you will know which one is for you

yes look at changing preamp tubes as the stock are probably not so good,if their sovtek's? or tad?,may i also add sovteks sound good in some amp's,but try jj's first,ge,nos are nice,but jj's i have found they smooth out the gain with much nicer tone and does wonders for power tubes!

As the topic says my pedal has gone microphonic, ie the sound goes muddy at times and then i have to tap the casing to get back to the regular sound. In my world all tubes have a certain lifetime but when i consult the manual it doesnt mention anything about changeing this. So, is the pedal all use...

The S1-45 does have grab handles and they are worth their weight in gold. The temptation to put them in the Twin is strong, but then it is not original. It is a particularily good speciman as it spent 25 years in a closet and I am loathe to modify it. I bought the Blackstar for it's ability to dial...
