Re: Speaker Swap

I just put a WGS Vet 30 in my HT-20 and am very pleased. Nice clarity and chimey cleans, as well as no more icepick. Much fuller tone.

Not sure how the Vet 30 compares with the Wizard, but the WGS is definitely a good replacement for the $$.

Vet 30 in a HT-20

Based on a lot of information from this forum and listening to sound clips, I decided that the $69 + shipping was inexpensive enough to take a chance on the WGS Veteran 30 as a replacement for the Rocket 50. Got it today and installed it in my combo. Eventhough it isn't 'broken in'yet... ...my verdi...

Re: HT-20 Combo - Opening the back?

Update:

Ordered a WGS Vet 30 today to see if I can improve the tone a little. I'll post some clips before/after when I get it loaded.

Re: HT-20 Combo - Opening the back?

I decided to take your advice and add a little structural support by reinforcing the top with some 1/2" birch. A little sanding/paint and voila ... http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/1319/2149/3296074001_large.jpg Still leaves it wide open and preserves that transparent sound. I'm pleased....

Has anyone else pulled the back off their BS combo??

Curious to hear what you think of the tone... Image

Re: HT-20 Combo - Opening the back?

Yeah, without the back on the HT-20 is wide open...not much left covering. But, I agree that the cabinet is pretty sturdy (even if it is MDF) and if I'm careful I should be OK.

HT-20 Combo - Opening the back?

I've got a HT-20 combo that I've been playing with and decided to take the back panel off and check out the tonal differences. Since I have been playing small venues mic'd, I thought this might be a kewl idea. Definitely gives a more airy feeling and more pronounced highs. I think I might like it fo...
