So I bought this mini stack and I'm a complete noob to guitar, when I connect the 2 cabs to the '1x8 Ohm or 2x16 Ohm' jacks, It doesn't work properly at all.

help, if someone could take a photo of the back of their amp and how the cabs are connected, I'd be really greatful. (obviously this only applies if you have the 2 16 ohm cabs)

Thanks so much for the reply, I just got this today and am so disappointed, either at the amp or myself for being so shit I can't set it up.

Anyway, I have it hooked up like that, it works for about 20 seconds then there is a crackle, at first its quiet, then it gets louder, I can still hear my guitar when its crackling, then the guitar gradually gets quieter until there is no noise anymore and the crackling stops.

I'll try to take a video.

I am so so confused, one time when I power it up, the amp will do what I describe above (work for about 20 seconds, then crackle) other times it just won't make any noise at all.

I tried connecting the amp to ONLY 1 cab, this time I changed the cable from the '1x8 Ohm or 2x16 Ohm' jack to the '1x16 Ohm' jack and it did the same crackle thing.

What you are describing doesn't sound speaker related.... Sounds like a loose or possibly bad tube. Is it possible to take it back to the store and have them check the tubes? You can do it yourself but it involves removing the back of the head and trying to press the tubes back in (if one is loose). The store or a tech may be better bet since you are unfamiliar with tube amps and they can be very dangerous when poking around inside. LETHAL AMOUNTS OF CURRENT.

Removed the cables for the cabs, plugged my headphones into the back of the head, click the little button beside it..

Worked for about 40 seconds then swooshing, guitar gets quieter, crackle, then silence.

Amp problem then?

I got my amp off a website, I don't know anyone who knows anything about tubes...I shouldn't even have to get anyone to open it open tbh, it should have arrived in a playable condition.

I guess I'll be sending it back.

You are more than welcome.

I don't where you are located but I'd send an email to Korg (if in the US) or Blackstar if somewhere else describing you issues. They have been quick at resolving issues lately.
