Hey im new to the forums here and I have a question about the ht 20. I know everyone says its loud but how would it compare to a crate xt65r combo. Also would it be good for acdc and some van halen. Some guy has his ht 20 on craigslist for 350 and he said he could move down a bit. I was just wondering if you guys recommend this amp.

Hey man welcome to the forum!
I have an HT-20 combo as my main amp and I love it! I gig with mine probably once a month. It's definitely loud enough for me. I would think anywhere you'd need more power will have a PA anyway. I use the emulated out through a DI box. It works great.
As far as sound goes, that's fairly subjective. I think it's a very versatile amp and should have no problem pulling off AC/DC and Van Halen. The nice thing is, this amp responds very well to tube and/or speaker changes. If it's not doing it for you, try another speaker or some different preamp tubes to get the sound you like. I've got a WGS Green Beret speaker as well as a Tungsol 12AX7 in V1 and a JAN-Philips 5751 in V2. I can dial in either of those bands tones pretty easily.
I think that $350 sounds like a pretty good deal to me(at least it would be in my area). Try it out! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
