I have a HT-5R amp. I prefer the overdrive channel to the clean channel as I like to use the EQ. However, I do prefer a low gain sound. When I turn the gain knob completely counter clockwise, the sound goes completely off even with the Overdrive volume turned all the way up. As I rotate the Gain clockwise, it sputters a bit then the sound seems to come back. Is this normal??

Thanks

Mine is exactly the same and it's only 2 months old so I'd consider it normal.

Many thanks for the response. I think many of us would agree that in most amps, turning down the gain simply eliminates this variable leaving the volume intact; or at the very least does not cause the amp to go silent!

I did interact with support by email on this issue. I got a very long response about the nature of drive/gain and volume, but surprisingly it did not answer the question in a straight forward manner as you have done!! Thanks!!

Personally, I do not like this characteristic of the amp. Should be able to turn off the drive and not loose the signal!
