control 2 HT Stage 100's from one foot switch using DB9 "Y" ?

Can this be done or is there a voltage that need to be disconnected from one of the amps? Rig running in stereo but using two footswitches is not going to work. Nine pin DB9 "Y" splits are available on ebay and amazon. Has anyone done this?
