Thanks so much for your responses.

In the end, the tubes change to the JJ ones along with swapping out the stock speaker to an Eminence Texas Heat did the trick. I also lowered the bridge pickup on the treble strings and that further helped.

Now I have the warm creamy tone I was looking for. Clean is awesome and the boosted channel with a combination of a clean boost and a nobles overdrive in front is bliss.

No regrets at all buying this amp (I have two of them actually); great amp and am very happy with it now.
