I am considering buying a year old HT Club 40 MKII that I've not seen in person yet.

I noticed that in a photo of the amp, the internal speaker is plugged into the 1x8 ohm output and not the 1x16 ohm output. The current owner is saying he has never used the amp with an external speaker cabinet and is not sure why it's plugged in that way. He claims it's always been plugged into the 1x8 ohm output and never been an issue. According to him, the AMP is working perfectly.

I am concerned because the user manual has a warning "Failure to correctly match the impedance of the amplifier and speakers will damage the amplifier." Before I waste time with this particular AMP, I want to make sure I'm not buying something that has issues. I have heard that fixing Blackstar amps can be tricky and costly because of the hybrid aspect of the design.

How concerned should I be that it's been used this way? Is there anything specifically I can do to confirm if the amp was damaged by doing this?
