I have a NOS Celestion G8 speaker rated at 16 ohms, can I substitute the internal speaker on my HT-1R (rated at 8 ohms) with the Celestion, without damaging the amp ?
Many thanks for your help. *B*

maybe...some transformers will tolerate an impedance mismatch - some wont

i have done it with fender amps with no issues - marshalls on the other hand hate a mismatch

if you dont have a 16ohm speaker input - its kind of a do at your own risk deal

if you 2 of the speakers wire them together in parallel and they will be 8 ohms - no problem there

You could put it into an external speaker box and run it through the external speaker output. It can handle 4-16 ohms. I am in the process of doing that. Found an old peavey 60 combo, pulled the amp/broken speaker out and using the box.
