I went to record some stuff and the engineer didn't exactly diss my tone but he wasn't giving me awards and bouquets either so I had a bit of a think, reset all the EQ and still wasn't happy. I had a pair of vintage 30s doing nothing and they were the same resistance as the stockers so I threw them in. It's a nice mod. The stock speakers are comparitively thin at the top and a bit porky at the bottom. Roll off the bass or the resonance to thin the bottom out and it gets thinner at the top. Can't win. The vintage 30s give me a nice thick crunch up the dusty end but aren't too fat at the bottom. I like a tight bottom.

I've now replaced the speakers and all the tubes. Fortunately it was all with stuff that I already had. Otherwise I would have spent enough money to have bought the amp that I wanted in the first place.... Having said that there is some satisfaction in improving things. I need to take it where I can get it cranked up now so I can marvel at how great it sounds.

Well there are some clues in the original post. It's in the Series 1 section. I put in 2 speakers. That narrows it down to.....

Series 1 combo.

Either way.....Vintage 30 and T-75......compliments each other very very well.

Darned thing's heavy now though. Thinking of trying it with 1 speaker.
