Thx for the instructions m8, these are different to stratmans. Interestingly it says to set to 50mv but I thought that was cold and should be around 75mv. Good instructions but would still like stratmans to complement them.

I think these are only shared off the forum as it would breach blackstar rules. I can forward over whatever I get if u want the-way but will need u to pm email address.

How was your experience when you got done, what changes did your amp make tube type and was it a big change for you?

Hopefully rock_dog will answer this 1 as I have not done it yet. Wish I had backed up my old e-mail and kept stratmans instructions but these are still helpful. Do u want them?

I put in Tungsol 12ax7 except for the phase inverter buffer tube,ecc-82 which I used a EH-12au7.
Power tubes are now Winged C's.
Had my Tech bias and balance the amp for me since you need a scope for the balancing. Its biased to the specs I gave Distortion Dave. Really made this a much better amp. IMAO
Much warmer and less brittle then the stock TAD's. Not that the stock tubes sounded terrible, but I was actually looking at a speaker change because of the harshness I wasnt liking. New tubes changed that in a hurry.
Of course tone is subjective but I like what it did to my amp.

Don't know if this is helpful but here is my findings. The stock valves were biased at 59mv. This ties in to what I said about people running around 70mv I would guess. Another finding is the stock valves were not that stable, they tended to change over time (slowly raising) 59 was the peak after 45 mins.

With jj's at 60mv the bright clean is most improved channel by far. Distortion could maybe be improved by going to 70mv? The jj's are far more stable and don't raise as they heat up. Also for those that question if a 're-bias is needed the bias reading dropped from 59 to 30 after valve change.

Hope this helps someone.
