1046L6 it is!!

The decision's been made. I'm buying the Series One 1046L6 head and a Series One 212 cab.
Just to make sure how to hook it up:
I have a choice between 8 Ohm mono and 16 Ohm stereo. If I use 8 Ohm mono, do I use one speaker cable from the head into the right Jack on the back of the cab?
Does that engage both speakers?
If I understand correctly, in this case I have to switch the impendence on the back of the head into the 8 Ohm position?
Information on this topic is extremely confusing and English is not my native tongue.
