Ok thanx for the explenation.
Im no tech guy but can you explain a bit what youve said.
V1 is the 12AX7 tube.
If I put he 12AXY tube in that position it would give the amp more headroom....basicly it would not start to break up so early on the volume dial....
Am I correct?
Wich chanel will this effect?

V2 is the EF86 tube....I dont think I can put an 12AXY tube in this postion....or...?

Apologies...what I meant was to use the 12AY7 on the higher gain channel. On my HT20, I put a 12AY7 in the overdrive channel to reduce the gain onset/change the taper. I wouldn't think it would have much effect on the clean channel. Not sure if the Artisan 15 is similarly configured, but try it in the gain channel.

Would this couse any problems?

V4 = EL 84 Power amp
V5 = EL 84 Power amp

I would be really interested to learn what the tube swaps could be and their effects indeed!

In v1, the 12ay7 would hive more headroom or just less gain?

Would the headroom (more clean at higher volume, isn’t it?) would increase with power tubes swap? What kind of tube could be put there without mods?

Is there any substitution for v2? Damn those ef tubes are pricey!

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts!
