Has anyone tried different preamp valve combinations in channel 1 of the Artisan 15.
I just got hold of a 12ay7 tube and was thinking of replacing the 1st valve with it.
Is the 2nd 12ax7 tube used as a phase inverter or as part of the pre amp in channel 1?
I'm trying to get an even bigger difference between channel one and channel 2.
Any help with this would be great.
Also, I just bought a DR Z brake lite attenuator to get my amp cooking at lower SPLs which should help me out with stage volumes at smaller gigs!
Cheers,
Rob

Installed one of these attenuators in the back of my artisan 15 combo today! Had to turn the speaker 90 degrees so that I could plug it in without an extension speaker cable.
Just fired it up though and it sounds great! I can get power tube breakup at reasonable volumes!
When I say reasonable I don't mean bedroom levels, but volumes that sound men on small stages will be very happy with!
Issue now is I'm using my ht dual simply for it's EQ section. Perhaps I need to get an EQ pedal and use the HT dual more for home practice and recording.
