Artisan 10 AE Boost circuit bloody loud

Hi everyone and happy new year.
I just got a second hand Artisan 10 AE and the tone is sweet, particularly with the Celestion G12H-30 that I replaced the Seventy 80 with.
However I have one issue that bothers me. The boost circuit on this thing is just so bloody loud compared to it not being engaged that it always blows my ears off. It is just unusable. The volume difference is so massive that it is impossible to set up the amp properly, neither for practice nor in a live situation with a mic in front of it.
Anyone else experienced this with their Artisan 10 AE or has heard about this?
