Well, I am new here so I don't know much how things are going, and there were probably some topics like that but... I am kind of bedroom player, and I've got band that is about to complete (I mean we still don't have a drummer), and my question is if I should go for HT-20 or HT-40? Cause I think that HT-20 is better for bedroom, and I don't know if it can handle the gigs, cause I don't have mic, and HT-40 might be too loud (cause I am living in a semi-detached house with old neighbours. What should I do?

Playing at home, and at rehearsals ... 2 different worlds. Ideally you would need an HT-1 for use
at home (if you have neighbours), and an HT-40 for rehearsals.

But ..... you can play at very low volumes with the HT-40

The difference between volumes of a 20 and a 40 is not that great ... both may be loud enough for gigs and with the master volumes be able to provide decent tones at low volume levels although the 40 may prove to be more versatile if your gigging

You may need to consider other things such as price, head or combo or whats available to try before u make your decision

I think both are probably a bit loud for playing next to close neighbors and still achieving optimal tone. Why not use headphones? I also think the biggest factor between the two is whether you prefer a head or combo.

EDIT I see from your introductory post you have an HT-5. That should do you better for the neighbor situation. I'd say that with both, you have all bases covered. ;)

I think I would have combo version of that amp, and yes, I will try both versions at music shop soon, so I will see which one is better, and I haven't noticed, that those amps have an headphones output, well that would be great, but if it won't spoil the sound of amp (I had Crate 15, and when I was playing with my headphones, it sounded like a crap). Thank you very much for your advices.

Most amps that have an headphone out are practise amps and sound like crap through the headphone (although quality headphones will make a big difference) - put simply do not get that 'valve tone' or power or dynamics through a headphone that you get with a wound up valve Amp .

Have the HT20H and run it through a 2x12. Loud enough for gigging. If it's not, give whatever drummer you find a talk about their playing. 40w, obviously, will give you more headroom. Though, as alluded to, it's not 2x as much. An option for you that may make sense, is getting the HT20 and an SM57 (Or something akin) to mic it.

Well, in my country it is like HT-20H + HTV-212 costs same as HT-60 Soloist combo, and it's over my budget, now I can only afford for 40 watts combo, so well, I think I will look forward HT-20 and SM-57, cause it might be good.

XRay,

You can always add an extension cab later if you choose, as well. But, very least, you'll be set for gigging.

FWIW...the HT-20 combo is no slouch. Especially with a re-tube and speaker change.
