Someone had a Celestion V30 from a Mesa cab on CL today and i managed to pick it up for $50 in a package deal. I was really happy with my Eminence Wizard, but went ahead and grabbed it any way. I did a AB recording of the two. Note that the amp is running @ 8 ohms with the V30, vs 16 for the Wizard, hence the V30 being louder.

Eminence Wizard vs Celestion V30..metal tone

I'm really liking the V30, it loses some of the top end fizz and chunks up a bit better. It also seems the amp likes running at 8ohms.

shredder....puppets, gotta luv it!!! sounds good I like the 30 better as well. I recently put a vet30 in my ht40 and a et65 in the 112 ( the recommened pairing from WGS) and it just effin rocks!! the vet30 sounds near identical to your v30 and the et65 just adds that bottom thump like crazy.

KKND-sounds like amp heaven!! Image

Josh- yeah I'm liking the sound of this speaker. Still haven't gotten to play it at practice with a drummer yet but i'm pretty sure it's gonna sound great. Tons of low end grunt with this thing.

^^ Thank you sir!! ...and yep, nice to have someone else do all the breaking in for you. Let them worry about "Does it just need breaking in?? Why doesnt it sound like that clip i heard?? Maybe i got the wrong speaker. Maybe it's a bad speaker? Let me go to the forum and write a long post about it and see what everyone else thinks" Image
