HT-20 or 40
It kind of depends on what you're looking for. I prefer...how to say without double entendre...the "H" versions over combos. And, I like having 2x12s. On top of anything else, for using 2 different sounding speakers. Have used a lot of combos, and they certainly work fine, but just a personal choice. BUT, there are plenty on here who use the HT20/40/60 combos who are perfectly happy.XRay17 wrote:So, you think that HT-20H + cab with 2x12 speakers will be more versatile, than HT-40 combo?
REALLY, these are great amps so it's down to personal preferences in a couple of different areas and I doubt you can go entirely wrong with any of them.
Gigging wise, I know a couple of people who have opted to use their 5W heads through a 4x12 or 2x12 and they worked great. These aren't newbs or slouch guys, but seasoned players who have been at it for a long time and are well respected and have used a lot of gear (One just goes through a lot of amps and has settled on the HT100 or HT5H, depending on the venue, the other's main setup is a huge rack system based around Mesa pre/power amps).
Venue-size dependent, or if you mic 'em, they work.
NEVER sell a good amp! Just keep buying more (wife permitting, of course )XRay17 wrote:Ok, I think I will go for HT-40, but wouldn't it be too loud, I mean I could use HT-5 for practising at home, and HT-40 for gigging, but if the 40 won't be so loud, then I could sell that 5 watts.
As stated above, not much difference in volumes 20 vs 40...depends more on your preference for a combo or a head. I used to only buy combos, but lately I've come to prefer heads w/ a 2X12 and speakers of your choice YMMV.
I'm only 17, so I don't have wife yet , even girlfriend , but yes, I am going to have those two amps I mean, 5 watt and 40, and as I stated before I will buy it as a combo, but maybe soon I will have some stacks (my dream is to have S1 100 halfstack, maybe some Blackstar endorsement for young bands , haha).
Thank you for advices .

There is also the HT-50H which is basically an HT-40 head. The 40's & 50's have more tone options than the 20's do.
I run my HT-5R head through 2-12's and love it for home use (I don't foresee ever selling it). I had the opportunity to try it through a 4x12 and absolutely loved it! My future plans include a 4x12 then picking up an HT-50H for when I need it to get really nasty.

Does not matter which one you choose. Both of them are not real full tube amps.XRay17 wrote:Well, I am new here so I don't know much how things are going, and there were probably some topics like that but... I am kind of bedroom player, and I've got band that is about to complete (I mean we still don't have a drummer), and my question is if I should go for HT-20 or HT-40? Cause I think that HT-20 is better for bedroom, and I don't know if it can handle the gigs, cause I don't have mic, and HT-40 might be too loud (cause I am living in a semi-detached house with old neighbours. What should I do?
