I've actually got an early 90's JC120 and the cleans from my Stage 60 are just as good. I judge just about every clean tone I hear to the JC-120 because they are that good. The BS is right there with it 8)

well, it just goes to show you can't please everyone, LOL Good luck to you ZBolt--don't let the door hit you on the way out, LOL!!

As for Jono's comment, dude, I totally agree--I used to have an Indonesian-made Suier Strat that I used to bring to an auditon for a cover band--and they were marvelling how cool it sounded--tone is definitely in the hands, the gear further enhances it

I had an old Korean Squier Strat who's neck rivaled any MIA/custom shop...it was that good (until I broke it).

bummer, LOL!!

there's some kid on YouTube [Aaronmarshallplayer] that's getting tons of flack for his videos of him testing out great gear--I think his dad owns a musci stare and lets him try it out, LOL!! Alot of the comments detest him saying that 'good gear should be earned' etc--

I think there's some validity to that. Work your way up (Granted, I mentioned buying my son a strat, but it was a cheaper Squire). I have no issue with someone getting their kid stuff, I guess, but there's something to be said for trading stuff to get a cheap guitar and mowing grass people's grass to get a cheap Gorilla amp, and keep finding ways to upgrade.

Does A) Make you appreciate stuff and B) Gives a good background on a lot of gear.

There's a younger guy in a band around here who's first amp was a MESA Roadster combo and a DC Goldtop Les Paul as his first setup. Little much.

the only reason I would justify getting good gear for a kid is if he's a good player, or has the potential to be--I used to give a guitar/bass-playing nephew of mine my old stuff--although he did lose a sweet LTD H300 loaded w/ EMGS [89/neck+85/bridge w/ coil tap on the 89] one time [the place his band was practicing--the drummer's mom took that guitar as collateral for supposedly 'lost stuff', grrrr!!]
