Hi my name is nicola. I'm italian and i have a big problem with my blackstar ht40.

I bought this amp used two week ago but i don't have his original Footswitch (fs-5 or fs-8)

Now i want to buy it, but in italy is impossibile. Is not ordinable...

There is a compatibility footswich 2 ways for my blackstar?

Thanks!!!

Any dual latching footswitch that uses a stereo (TRS) 1/4" jack will work. Something like this: https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-H471-LED

You can also use something like the Boss FS-6, but it's pricey: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FS6

Either of those should work. I would call them and make sure they are both latching footswitches though.

Basically, there are two types of footswitches: latching and non-latching. Latching is what it sounds like, you click the switch and it "latches" into that position. Non-latching is a momentary switch, it basically sends a signal pulse.

The HT-40 requires a latching footswitch. My guess is both of those are latching...but it's always best to confirm before you buy. ;)

Hi Nicola

The advice above is correct. Latching means (Stays On). Non-Latching means )You have to keep your foot on the pedal to keep it on. You want "Latching".

I use the BOSS FS-6 as mentioned above. It is very strong and allows you to change from latching to Non-latching. It also allows you to change which footswitch changes channels and which footswitch changes reverb. It does need power. A battery or cable.

A more basic "Latching" footswitch would be great.

Many people have asked to be able to buy a footswitch fot their HT-40 with no response from Blackstar. Maybe once their price rise is complete they may consider at this request from those that have been asking for it over the last 3yrs.

Are you sure the OD select switch (on the amp itself) is in the on position (pushed in)? If it's not, the footswitch will not work. From the manual:
6. Overdrive Select
Press this switch to select the Overdrive Channel.
NOTE: this switch must be ‘in’ for the footswitch to work
You can buy an original footswitch...the issue is how much are you willing to spend for shipping:

You can't blame Blackstar for not giving you a footswitch. You bought the amp used....the guy you bought it from should have provided it.

I use a Marshall PEDL-91001 dual latching pedal with my HT Club 40, and it works fine.
