New HT 50 owner. Dilemma
Thanks for that, very good guide!. I'm not bad with a multi meter so might have a go. Going to try a different OD or EQ first as its the cheaper option. Possibly will try a boss sd-1 or the bad monkey. Tubes and speakers arn't cheap and by the time I've swapped them, I could have got a used series one .
Back again. After a week away from the amp I'm still not happy. Been reading up on the forum and thinking of changing the preamp tubes . Am I correct In saying that it is one preamp tube per channel? I'm happy with the clean , so could just replace one? Also the preamp tubes don't need rebiasing after? this only applys to the power tubes.

It's correct that you do not have to rebias when changing preramp tubes. However, saying there is one preamp tube per channel is not quite correct. When on the clean channel, signal goes to one tube in the preamp (V1). When you switch to OD, signal goes to both tubes. So first it goes to V1, then it goes to V2.
Due to this, changing V2 will have a direct impact on the OD channel, but changing V1 will also affect the OD tone.

Looking from the back of the head, V2 will be the one furthest away from you (towards the front of the chassis). V1 will be the one closest to you (towards the back of the chassis).
