Has anyone done this? I'd like to see some pics.

On a similar note, would Blackstar sell an empty headshell? I mean, flip the badge, mount feet and handle on the other side and you're converted.

Not exactly. On the combo, the clean controls are on the right, the master controls are on the left and the tubes are pointing down. On the head, the clean controls are on the left, with the master on the right and the tubes are pointing up.

Doing what you propose would defeat one of the biggest advantages of the head, which is the fact that the tubes are on top and dissipate heat better. If they are pointing down, you've taken away all the space they had underneath them to circulate air and it's going to get REAL hot in there.

I did this on the HT-40. I did not flip the controls though and left the back open so I was not concerned with heat. Everything is tucked away on the top so dust is not much of an issue.

I ended up putting everything back in the combo for two reasons 1) the combo was more convenient as it can drive the cab and if I want something smaller, I can grab the combo and go. 2) the box I made for head was so ugly I could not stand looking at it.

I had a combo to head conversion done to a Marshall DSL40C. There are many places that do that sorta thing, but for me Stagecraft had a good balance of delivery time, price, and look.
