I'm about to open a rehearsal space for business and i need amps. My first choice would be one or two HT 50 Club, with two EL34 in the power amp stage they should have enough power to keep up with the most loud metal and rock bands without have to push them to limits i guess. The other solution is to go with the HT Stage 100. The cabinets would be HTV412. What do you think about?
Thank you!
HT Club 50 or HT Stage 100 for rehearsal space?
I was just asking... For me, a little distortion on the clean channel isn't a big deal so I gig with 40-50W amps all the time. YMMV.omaroski wrote:Of course i need cleans, people will probably crank the amp for distortion but many will rely on their stompboxes for that and a clean sound to start with would be much better for the purpose.
The 50 is more than enough headroom and power for either. Also its much easier to dial the tone in with the 50 being the clean has just one tone knob and it doesn't have presence and resonance meaning you can't push the dreaded high end fizz or the unneeded sub bass rumble too much even if you wanted to, leaving you with a much cleaner tone no matter what you do with the knobs that will cut the mix like a knife. Another word the more options the more ways for whoever to make the tone shitty especially if new people will be trying to dial in a tone on the fly on the regular. Go with the 50 no doubt.
Honestly though you should check out the ID TVP heads. The 60 or 100 watt head would be much more versatile and still be plenty loud enough. Based off the series one.
Didn't say it was but I will say that IMO the tone is much better than the HT and many other tube amps. Once I got the ID I sold my other amps because it sounded just as good and in some cases better than my other tube amps. Just trying to help. If your not biased you'd be surprised once you crank it up.
A cool setup would be an HT 50 and an ID:60TVP
IMHO those kinds of amps are only good for clean and really heavy sounds. None live up to real tubes for classic and rock tones.Enlive wrote:Didn't say it was but I will say that IMO the tone is much better than the HT and many other tube amps.
