Hi All,

I'm struggling to pull the trigger on buying a second HTV212 cab to add to my first one. The idea is to avoid buying a 4x12 due to weight and having the versatility on stage for stereo etc if needed. Stacking the 2x12s for stages where I need a 4x12 or just using the 2x12 for ohter shows. The amp is a HT100, HT60 soloist or ID60 depending on the gig. I own all three.

The question relates to the open back design of the 2x12. Will it be too "big" or "boomy" or *whatever* for hard rock or classic (not thrash or modern) metal? I play in a classic 70s-80s style metal band, a hard rock band and a psychedelic band as well (and the HTV212 is perfect for that).

Anyone have any experience in this?

Has anyone used two HTV212s?

Opinions, ideas and experiences all welcome.

I would personally never use an open back cab for classic metal. You need the closed back for more focused bass. As far as the other genres it's personal preference. Go to the local music store and try an open vs closed back.
