This week, only the clean channel developed an audible hiss (its volume about 25-30% relative volume to the guitar). The distortion channel is quiet, no hiss. I went through the process of elimination:

- Nothing plugged into input jack: still hisses intermittently
- Guitar plugged in: still hisses
- Swapped guitars and swapped brand new cables: still hisses
- Changed channel voicings: still hisses
- Removed 5-way footswitch: still hisses
- Replaced all tubes: still hisses
- Even changed electrical power circuits and electrical cable

The amp functions fine right now, sounds great- it just has the hiss that you can hear on stage when the band is between songs/not plying, or playing very quiet passages/guitar only.

Any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks!

maybe a capacitor got damaged and the clean channel circuit doesn't filter the signal well
