hey guys, thanks for all the feedback
about the stock speaker, is it an easy/cheap job to get a new one? or should I just get the head and a 1x12 cab (maybe the Blackstar HTV112)?
HT-5 or HT-20
The stock speaker is nasty IMO, but i have heard a few people say its good enough for them. i have an E-tone 12" in mine and the amp is soooo much nicer. Its a very easy job to change over speakers in the combo, just mind the tubes.SuprisingMoose wrote:hey guys, thanks for all the feedback

And the line out is decent!tonelover wrote:HT20 studio combo is the best 20w valve amp i have owned,it has more headroom than the ht5,clarity of sound is nicer and is very good for just jamming or on stage,i gig with this amp with no trouble keeping up with a loud drummer, and with the ability to lineout to a PA system is a bonus.
I'd say the HT-20 would be much better for you. The HT-5 isnt super loud, depends on your drummer really. I ran my bass through a HT-5 and could barely be heard. However, with the HT-20 its a much different story.. i even had to turn myself down while using the HT-20. If you've got the money then the HT-20 would be a much better choice. It's clean channel is noticably better and it has more gain, while being a hell of a lot louder. It'll also stretch a lot further for your needs.. You could probably gig with a HT-20 yet with the HT-5 its purely bedroom practise only i think.
If you could have the clean channel of the HT-20 in the Peavey the amp would be EPIC. But you have a HT20/HT40 with a decent speaker and EQ in the loop and the 6505 is left in its dust.RoelSmoel wrote:I say HT20 with an Orange 1x12 cab with a Vintage 30 speaker, that's a great combination!
I bought them almost, but then came the Peavey 6505+ 112, and I felt back in love..

Get the biggest amp you can, that doesn't disturb your neighbor

headroom is what you have to consider and the ht20 has more than the ht5,the clarity of sound in the ht20 is better and more grunt with the ht20,these are the things you need to take into consideration.
