HT-5 fuzzy Rectifier (Kenny Hickey) tone

I’m trying to figure out how to get a fuzzy distorted tube tone out of my HT-5 using a guitar with SD 59 and JB pickups. Specifically I am trying to get close to the tone Kenny Hickey had on World Coming Down and Life is Killing Me. Is this something I could get with a really tweakable OD like the Bad Monkey?

The russian version is my favourite.

I had a Big Muff but the sound was too vintage-y for me. Maybe I’ll have to rethink that.

There are a few big muff models out there, the russian model seems a touch more agressive and has a bit more gain than the standard ones.
