Vintage 30 is a definite winner with the HT-5, that's for sure!

If it's relatively new, you're going to need to spend some time breaking it in (at least that was the case with me HT-20). Unfortunately, it took a longgggg time, but the result was worth it.KKND wrote:Guys i put a WGS Vet 30 in my HT 5 and it sounds muddy and muffed. Any one else tried the WGS in the HT5R?
Thanks

I recently bought a used HT-5R and initially there was a dramatic volume difference between the clean a drive channels. I dropped in a new ECC83 ( 12AX7 ) into the pre-amp position and it has made a real difference. After speaking to Blackstar they told me that this valve has two haves to it, each half powering a channel of the amp, and if one half happened to be faulty it would therefore make one channel quiter than the other.
Also I fitted a Celestion G12M Heritage Greenback and that has made a huge difference, gone are the rasppy harse and fizzy edges at some settings of the drive channel. I also get a great tone when using and overdrive pedal through the clean channel.
