Whats wrong with my HT5?

Howdy all, my Ht5 has developed a nasty brittle "graunch" kind of
sound. Really audible with palm muted chugs, the sound trails
off the end of each note for a split second.
Only had the amp for two weeks, so gonna take it back this weekend
and a/b it with another one, most upset cause i really love this
thing, the whole idea of a low wattage tube amp totally rocks my world!
Hopefully i can swap it with another one, but in the mean time,
any ideas what is causing this?
