Hi all. I've searched the forum, but I can't find the answer to this.

I just sold my old Yamaha-Soldano combo amp, which was a LOT of amp. It had 7 12ax7 tubes, one for each EQ channel, and two separate full 3 band eqs for clean and OD. That amp leaned Marshall in its sound, and JCM800 100 watt in its volume, which was what I liked about it. It also weighed 50 lbs and hadn't been played with the master past 2 in ten years. It sounded amazing when pushed.

And the amp I thought I'd replace it with, is the HT-5 or HT-5R. And I have a question. Reading the forum, people say the HT-5 and variants is not a true "Master Volume" amp. It appears that the "Volume" occurs on the receive side of the EFX loop (which would make a volume control in the EFX loop redundant), which would make it a "Master Volume" in the definitions I knew from Ancient Times.

So what would need to be different for the "Volume" on the HT-5 to be considered a "Master Volume"?

Thanks, I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer.
