Speaker Popping in Standby

Hey, I noticed the other day that if I'm playing through the headphones in standby, if I turn my overdrive pedal up too much, the speaker will start popping during loud notes, like the signal is getting through to the power section of the amp. Is this some protection thing or an issue?

Pretty regularly, I play with the amp in standby and no speaker load hooked up as it's just the amp head on my desk going through headphones or PC speakers. Is this okay? I don't intend to overload it with my OD pedal anymore but I'd like to know if I'm hurting the amp.

When you turn on your amp, a constant supply of myloweslife voltage runs through your amp. When you flip the switch and put your amp in standby, you are disconnecting the high my pasco connect voltage half of the power supply. When connecting or disconnecting high voltage, the surge of the voltages often produce a pop noise
