Blackstar HT-DUAL without plastic cover!

hi guys!
i just bought my ht-dual effects pedal and it came without the plastic cover protecting the valve window.
two of my friends have the same pedal and both of them came with this, imo, excellent protection.
so i'm asking u guys now:
the new pedals are now coming without this protection?
does this make some difference in the pedal's performance?
should do something to protect it in case i do lot of gigs?
