Getting warm tones with HT Blackfire

Hi folks. Recently got my hands on one of these babies and i'm psyched. Played around with it a little and i'm not getting the sounds im looking for though. In short i'm looking for something smooth and warm but all i'm getting right now is a relative harshness.
I've got the pedal hooked up to a Marshall DSL 15c. Eq settings on the amp are more or less at noon with a little added on treble and bass to get a warm clean sound. I'm aware Marshall amps are generally pretty bright but i'm hoping to counter that with the pedal.
