Mp3 player volume issue

Hi, I have started playing backing tracks with my MP3 player plugged into the MP3 line in the amp. However I am having an issue balancing the volume level with that of the guitar. The problem is the guitar volume is so much louder that the backing tracks that the only way I can balance the two is to have the pre amp volume level on minimum with gain turned down and also the volume knob of the guitar rolled right back. This does not produce a very good sound. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
